Book Blogger Confessions #4 (3.8.12)

Book Blogger Confession is a new blog meme hosted by Tiger of All Consuming Books and Karen of For What It's Worth. The meme will run on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month  to discuss some of the frustrations that are unique to book bloggers.

You can read the introductory post here.

I'm a little late in getting this done, but here's this week's question:

Let's talk about the positive side of blogging! How has blogging influenced your real life in a positive way? (not related to books or reading) Have you learned to be organized or are you more social now for example?

One of the positive influences of blogging in my life is that I have become more computer savvy. Before blogging, I had no idea how to create hyperlinks or how to look at html code and make changes. While I am no expert, I now have the know-how to make some changes to code. As for creating hyperlinks - I've gotten pretty good at that. Of course, there is still a ton more that I can learn, and hopefully, as I continue blogging, I will continue learning!

Another influence has been my confidence in myself. I started this blog to share my love of reading, but I didn't jump right into writing reviews. I just participated in some memes at first and poked around at other blogs. It wasn't until I was approached by a publicist who had found my blog and asked if I would be interested in reviewing a book that I really got into reviewing all the books I read. Over time, I think my reviewing has evolved, and I suspect will continue to evolve. I also developed the confidence to approach authors and publicists myself. This is only a recent development, but definitely not something I would ever have imagined doing. I am also more willing to promote my blog publicly - when I first started blogging, I only told a few people. As time has gone on, I have started to be more open about it - I even promote it when people are looking for their next read!

So what about you? Has blogging had any positive influences on your life (not related to reading/books)?

Thank you so much for leaving a comment! I love interacting with other book lovers and appreciate any thoughts or feedback! If you read a book after seeing my review, please let me know. Come back and leave me a link to your review so I can read it. Thank you!!!
