Audio Book Week 2012: Mid-Week Meme

Welcome to day three of Audio Book Week! I've been having a great time visiting the audiobook blogging community and have gotten lots of tips for what to include in audio reviews to make them stand out and be helpful for others when it comes to picking audio books. Today is the mid-week meme.

Current/most recent audiobook:
I'm currently listening to 2 audio books:
  * in the car: Spring Fever by Mary Kaye Andrews, narrated by Kathleen McInerney
  * on the iPod: Still Missing by Chevy Stevens, narrated by Angela Dawe

Impressions:
Spring Fever is a cute, fun story and the narrator is great with the southern accents. Still Missing is an intense story, with the narrator really making you feel as if you are right there alongside the main character.

Current/most recent favorite audiobook:
This is a toss-up between Home Front by Kristin Hannah, narrated by Maggie-Meg Reed and The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown, narrated by Kirsten Potter.

Favorite narrator you’ve discovered recently:
CJ Critt - I love her reading of the Stephanie Plum novels.

One title from your TBL (to be listened) stack, or your audio wishlist:
A Grown-up Kind of Pretty by Joshilyn Jackson is at the top of the list!

Your audio dream team (what book or author would you LOVE to see paired with a certain narrator, can already exist or not):
This is a tough one as I feel I haven't listened to nearly enough audios to put together any team, let alone a dream team.

So there you have it. What are your thoughts on these?

  1. I thought Still Missing was very good but it was also absolutely brutal and I don't use that word lightly. It was one of those I recommended to my brother and apologized for doing so at the same time.

    1. I agree - it's definitely not a light book.

  3. Good luck with Audio Week!

I always have a hard time with audio books. My mind drifts and by the time I notice it's too late and I've missed major plot points. I can't just flip back to what I missed either.

My husband has a long commute and listens to them sometimes.

    1. Before trying audios, I thought my mind would drift as well, and at times even while listening it does. But, the more I listen, the better listener I've become. And, if my mind does happen to wander, I just rewind.

  4. I liked the narrator of The Weird Sisters, but not too too much the story, but that's only very personal.

    1. It was a different kind of story, and I can see that it might not be for everyone. The narrator was great, though.

  5. HOME FRONT was so sad in print, it must have been a real tear-jerker in audio!

  6. Still Missing does sound like it might be a bit intense, so I added it to my TBL list. LoL

    1. It's definitely a light book, and intense is a good word to describe it. I am enjoying it all the same.

    1. It is very intense...but a good story, despite that. I'm hoping the library has the Joshilyn Jackson audio when I get there next time!
