THIS TELLING by Cheryl Strayed, narrated by Kristen Bell
Decades after she gives her daughter up for adoption, a chance connection on Facebook causes a woman to reflect on her time in a home for unwed mothers--and reclaim her story.

Cheryl Strayed's bestselling memoir, Wild, was adapted into an Oscar-nominated film starring Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern.

GRACEFUL BURDENS by Roxane Gay, narrated by Samira Wiley
In the near future, only "licensed" women are allowed to have babies. When a young unlicensed woman borrows an infant from Omaha's "baby library," it leads her to reject her genetically determined fate.

Roxane Gay is the bestselling author of Bad Feminist, Difficult Women, and Hunger.

SWEET VIRGINIA by Caroline Kepnes, narrated by Kristen Bell
A woman's love-hate relationship with Hallmark movies colors everything around her, from old work feuds to her experience as a new mother. A darkly comic look at what happens when a woman fails to live up to feminine ideals.

Caroline Kepnes's bestselling novel, You, has been adapted into a hit Netflix series.

THE CONTRACTORS by Lisa Ko, narrated by Lea Salonga
Two young women--one in the US, one in Manila--eke out a living filtering traumatic content from a major social media site. But when a reporter mixes up their email addresses, the contractors join forces to expose their terrible work conditions.

Lisa Ko's first novel, The Leavers, was a finalist for the 2017 National Book Award.

HALFWAY TO FREE by Emma Donoghue, narrated by Samira Wiley
In the far future, when a global climate-change program has thoroughly disincentivized starting a family, one woman weighs the uncertainties of motherhood.

Emma Donoghue's bestselling novel Room was a finalist for the Man Book Prize and adapted into an Oscar-nominated film.

BEAR WITNESS by Mary Gaitskill, narrated by Margo Martindale
An unflinching deconstruction of sexual violence and moral ambivalence in the #MeToo era. When a disturbed man brutally attacks his former teacher, a juror on his rape trial is forced to face her own beliefs.

Mary Gaitskill is the critically acclaimed author of numerous novels and short stories, including "Secretary," which was adapted into an award-winning film.

SHINE, PAMELA! SHINE! by Kate Atkinson, narrated by Gwendoline Christie
Pamela is a retired teacher whose skill at "putting a sparkle" on disappointing things is no match for the mundanity of her life. But a surprising discovery--and a leap of faith--will help her find her shine again.

Kate Atkinson is the bestselling author of Transcription and Life After Life. Her Jackson Brodie detective series was the basis for the BBC TV show Case Histories.

I haven't read these yet, but I have to say I am very curious about these and think I will be giving them a shot - and the good thing is they are relatively short! I will probably be doing the audio version as I am a big audio fan.

What do you think? Will you be reading or listening to these? Or have you done so already? Most of these authors are brand-new to me, except for Caroline Kepnes and Emma Donoghue - I've read books by both of them before and really enjoy their writing.
